It’s been a while since I’ve posted a home tour, and today I am so happy to be able to share a neighborhood home just down the street from where I live. The Weldon family lives in this inviting and sophisticated house. Weezie Weldon has a love for design and is extremely talented. This passion is reflected within the walls of her cozy family home. This is the kind of house that feels like a very stylish warm hug.
When I came to take the photos a few weeks ago, I realized that Weezie is definitely a kindred spirit. We talked decor and furnishings like someone might talk about the latest episode of The Bachelor or Real Housewives. She is so down-to-earth, sharp and very kind. I know you will see that reflected in her words below.
Who lives in this home and how long have you been here?: My husband Daniel and our 3 children Georgia, McCall, & Luke. We’ve lived in our home almost 6 years.
You’re home has so much character. What do you think it says about you?: I’ve always hoped for and wanted to create a home that has welcome, warmth, and an artsy flare.
Do you have a specific approach for furnishing and decorating your home?: If I’m decorating a room then I usually start with a jumping off piece. However, I’m fickle and love to change and rearrange things over time to give a fresh look. I usually like a very neutral but layered and light-filled look.
Where do you find home inspiration and ideas?: I’ve gotten a good bit of help from Cass Retz (a local interior designer). She’s amazing with color choices and has such a cool style. Many times I will seek her opinion (especially before large purchases or renovations) and she’s helped me a lot with paint colors too. I also love to browse home magazines and Pinterest for ideas and inspiration.
How would you describe your aesthetic/style?: Right now I’m into somewhat of a coastal vibe. I’ve always loved tons of natural light and a neutral base with accents of color. I really love art and eclectic pieces. I’m drawn to creating warmth, welcome and comfortable spaces.
What traits draw you to others’ homes?: Lots of light, character, and anything unexpected or eclectic.
Which room in your home do love the most?: My favorite room right now is Luke’s room! I spend a good deal of time in there while feeding him and it has the best view of our back yard. I had a lot of fun putting his room together and find it cozy and relaxing. I really do enjoy most of the rooms in our home though. We use all of our spaces on a daily basis which I love as well.
What do you splurge on in your home? Where have you saved? I’ve splurged on a few statement pieces like the large book case in our family room that Cass had recommended, light fixtures/lamps, and bedding to name a few. I’ve saved on things like dressers for my kids rooms I found at thrift stores and repainted them. I’ve also made all of my kids’ headboards. I love finding throw pillows, blankets and decorative accents at HomeGoods!
How do you hope your kids will remember their home when they are older?: I really hope they ultimately remember it as a place that radiated warmth, love, and creativity and a place they really loved & enjoyed!
Thank you, Weezie, for sharing your home with us! If you missed my prior home tours, check them out HERE and HERE.
